Earlier this year, I started a blog to begin and advance my career as a writer. The blog fizzled out in less than a month. I devoted too much time to maintaining it and generating content for it. So much time, in fact, that I started to fall behind schedule in meeting both my obligations to the blog and my real-life obligations. Consequence: Jettisoned Blog.
I won’t let that happen again. I will still have a strict schedule, but I will no longer beat myself up trying to meet it. If I miss a scheduled post, then I miss a scheduled post. If I can’t turn in a new story every day, then I’ll apologize and try to have one up the next day. What I won’t do is check out again. To be a writer, you have to work at writing.
Tomorrow is this blog’s return from World-Wide Websolesence. As before, I’ll try to post a new story every morning. There may, or may not, be a links post around lunchtime, depending on whether I’ve found anything really neat to link. And every evening I’ll muse about something: commentaries on literature, television, and film; reviews for novels and movies; and the occasional personal column. I’ll try it. We’ll see how it goes.
Welcome me back. And wish me luck. I’ll need it.
